It seems that Chinese tech giant Xiaomi is moving very fast to carve a space for itself in the premium smart TV space. Earlier this year, the Chinese company has already launched OLED and Transparent TVs, and today, as promised last week, it has unveiled its first-ever mini LED Mi TV Master Extreme in China.
This Mi TV Master Extreme Edition comes with an 82 inches mini LED panel with an 8K Ultra HD display that supports pixel resolution up to 7680 × 4320. The display uses as many as 15360 mini LED beads to form 960 light control partitions that deliver 2000 nits of peak brightness and a 400000:1 contrast ratio. Now, according to the company, each partition can deliver 4096 levels of light and dark variations.
The display supports quantum dot 98% P3 wide color gamut, a refresh rate of 120 Hz, MEMC technology, Dolby Vision technology, and HDR10+ certification. Mi TV Master Extreme comes equipped with a quad-core Novatek 72685 8K chip. It is coupled with Mali G51 MP4 GPU and 4 GB of RAM. The handset offers an internal storage of 256 GB. It is capable of decoding sources up to 8K 60Hz through 22 algorithms.
Xiaomi has partnered with China’s Ai Qiyi to launch 50 channels that will stream a wealth of 8K movies and television shows so you don’t have to worry about getting 8K contents. Also, note that this smart TV brings along sub 6 GHz dual-mode (SA/ NSA) 5G support.
Mi TV Master Extreme is equipped with a new retractable ‘sound wing’ speaker system. The speakers are hidden behind the display in idle state and automatically show up from the left and right edges of the TV when you watch something. There are as many as eight unit speakers with two 20W bass and two 10W high-frequency units and an inverted tube for enhanced bass. Mi TV Master Extreme supports Dolby Atmos and it also comes with the company’s proprietary sound technology on board.
This iteration of Mi Smart TV also comes equipped with an Ethernet, USB 3.0, and HDMI 2.1 port. All these are found in the rear. It has a central rotating base to adjust the direction.
Today, the Chinese tech giant has also launched a standard 4K Mi TV Master in China. It does not include a mini LED display like the mini LED Extreme Edition, instead, there is a 82 inches 4K LCD panel with 240 zone backlighting and up to 1000 nits of peak brightness. This display supports 120 Hz MEMC technology, HDR10+, Dolby Vision, and 93% DCI-P3 wide color gamut.
This Mi TV Master does not include the retracting speakers found in the Extreme Edition, instead, you will also find a six unit split band speaker with Dolby Atmos support on board. Both the smart TVs are backed by the company’s MIUI for TV and Xiao AI.
The standard 82 inches 4K Mi TV Master has been tagged with a price tag of CNY 9,999 (which is INR 1,08,000 in India). On the other hand, the 82 inches 8K mini LED Mi TV Master ‘Extreme Edition’ comes with a price tag of CNY 49,999 (which is INR 5,40,500 in India). The standard edition is now available for sale right away in China, while the latter will be available from 21st October 2020 onwards.
