Xiaomi teases its foldable phone once again

Xiaomi, earlier this year, showed first working prototype of its foldable smartphone. This was shown in a video posted by Xiaomi CEO on Weibo. It showed a smartphone which folded outwards and turned into tablet when kept flat. However, we were very skeptical about foldable phones at that time. This was also because of the UI mess we saw in Xiaomi’s video. It was evident that the phone had UI issues when folded.

Since then, we have seen Samsung’s Galaxy Fold as well as Huawei’s Mate X being released. Also, Samsung’s Galaxy Fold is believed to have excellent software support due to its prowess in the industry. Huawei, on the other hand, will have to work on its software before release as well. Now, Xiaomi has released another video of its foldable smartphone.

As seen before, its foldable phone does fold outwards. This means you can use the smartphone in tablet position when kept flat. When folded, this smartphone can be used as a regular smartphone. Also, we can now see that the UI issues this phone had have now been fixed. This also gives confidence regarding Xiaomi’s foldable phone. Other than that, we can also notice that the smartphone is running MIUI. It means that Xiaomi has developed a special version of MIUI 10 for this phone as well.

Another exciting prospect about Xiaomi’s foldable phone is its price. Compared to Samsung’s Galaxy Fold and Huawei’s Mate X, Xiaomi foldable phone is expected to be cheaper. According to one report, Xiaomi is planning to launch its foldable phone later this year. But the Xiaomi will cost $999 in the US. In hindsight, Samsung Galaxy Fold will be available at $1981 and Huawei Mate X will be sold for $2200. Because of the fact that foldable technology is new and it is also expensive at the moment.
