Microsoft starts notifying users that it will end support for Windows 7

We already know that the flagship product from Microsoft is its Windows OS. Now, the company announced few years back that its Windows 10 will be the last version of Windows. That does not mean that Windows is going anywhere anytime soon. Rather, Microsoft meant to say that Windows 10 will get feature updates and security updates. But its version number will not be changed. We have already seen various feature updates on Windows 10 by Microsoft.

Microsoft releases a new version of Windows every 6 months which means twice a year. Also, it means that the previous versions of Windows are not relevant anymore. Though, there are still users who have not upgraded to Windows 10 due to some reasons. One of the reasons is that they work in a company and updating all the PCs is a tedious task.

However, Microsoft has decided that it will stop support for Windows 7 which has been the most used version of Windows after Windows XP. Also, Microsoft says that the Windows 7 support will end from Jan 14, 2020. This means that you have enough time before that to either upgrade to Windows 10. Or Microsoft even recommends Windows 7 users to buy a new PC.

If you are someone who is having technical knowledge, you would feel that buying a new PC for Windows 10 is too much. But we feel that users with less technical know-how will definitely buy a new system. We should also tell you that there is some relief for you if you are an enterprise user of Windows 7. Because Microsoft has extended support for Windows 7 enterprise users till 2023.

On the other hand, Windows 7 Home and Ultimate users will have to update before next year to keep their PCs running. Although it does not mean that dropping support will stop Windows 7 from working, it just means that your PC will be vulnerable to hacks. You can still keep it running on your PC though.
