Google’s upcoming mid-range Pixel phones might be named Pixel 3a, 3a XL

Google is expected to launch two new smartphones in its Pixel series this year. However, these smartphones will not be launching in the regular Pixel 4 series. Instead, Google is rumoured to be launching a new lineup of mid-range smartphones. Now, there are more details regarding this upcoming mid-range Pixel series from Google. According to XDA-Developers, Google is indeed going to launch two new mid-range smartphones this year. These smartphones will be named as the Google Pixel 3a and 3a XL.

Now, the rumours regarding Google’s mid-range smartphones is nothing new. We have been hearing about them from quite some time now, almost since a year to be precise. However, with the names being leaked by XDA-Developers, it seems likely that the launch is imminent. Now, you would ask about the reliability of this leaked names from XDA-Developers and how did they manage to get them.

Well, the confidence level for this leak should be very high as the leak comes straight out of Android Q’s first beta. As you can see from the image attached above, the image clearly refers to a device named Pixel 3a XL. However, there is currently no such device (even a codename) at the moment. Also, it is placed along with other devices like Pixel 2, 2 XL, 3 XL etc. which have been released already.

Apart from that, it is likely that the device has a codename “sargo” but that has not been confirmed yet. Also, we have previously seen some benchmark tests from ‘Pixel 3a’ and ‘Pixel 3a XL’ leaked from Geekbench. According to the benchmarks, the devices are expected to come in 5.5-inch and 6-inch display sizes respectively. Apart from that, Pixel 3a is expected to have a Snapdragon 670 chip while the Pixel 3a XL will have a more powerful Snapdragon 710 chipset.
