Today, renowned tipster Ross Young of DSCC has posted about leaks regarding Samsung’s 2021 foldable. As per him, the third generation of Galaxy Z Fold will have a smaller display than the predecessor but this time, the Z Flip 3 will grow slightly bigger.
More precisely, he said that Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 3‘s main display (Inner Display) will get smaller than 7.59 inches on the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 2 and the company will go ahead with a 7.55 inches main display and shrink the cover display to 6.21 inches. He also claimed that the resolution of the main display would be around 2208 × 1768 pixels with an aspect ratio of 5:4 PPI of 375.
Back in August, Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 2 was announced. It came with a 6.23 inches cover display. As per Ross, the smaller size on the front is to accommodate the S Pen inside the chassis. A previous patent indicated that Samsung is working on integrating the stylus on Foldable devices. Note that Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 3 will reportedly be the first foldable with a UTG display to use a Stylus.
Lenovo has a similar device dubbed Lenovo ThinkPad X1 Fold which comes with stylus support but it uses a CPI screen. CPI (Colorless Polyimide) is a Plastic film but UTG (Ultra Thin Glass) is technically stronger. Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 3 is likely to sport an improved UTG display with AES digitizer support and an under-display camera.
Ross estimates that there is a possibility of a “W22” foldable which according to him would be like a Samsung Galaxy Z Fold3 Ultra and will be manufactured limited in quantities.
Both Samsung Galaxy Z Flip3 and Samsung Galaxy Z Flip Lite will come with 6.7 inches display which is 0.03 inches up from the predecessor. Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 3 will feature an LTPO display with a refresh rate of 120 Hz.
