Sony Xperia 5 II with Triple Camera set up unveiled officially

Last month, Sony promised that it will unveil Xperia 5 II (Xperia 5 Mark 2) as a compact version of its Xperia 1 II flagship smartphone, and today, it has finally done what it had promised. Xperia 5 Mark 2 can be seen as the younger sibling to the Xperia 1 II. Xperia 5 II is going to be the first Sony smartphone to boast a high 120 Hz refresh rate display. The device will be powered by a Snapdragon 865 chipset and it will sport a Zeiss camera.

Sony Xperia 5 II has been priced at the US $ 949 (which is around INR 69899) and will be available in four color variants: pink, blue, gray, and black. It can be pre-ordered from 29th September but the device will start to ship only from 4th December 2020.

It seems that this time as well, the leaks and rumors about the handset was done perfectly. Sony Xperia 5 II looks and feels exactly like its elder sibling. It comes with a 6.1 inches Full HD + OLED panel with an aspect ratio of 21:9 and a refresh rate of 120 Hz. It must be noted that as far as resolution is concerned, it’s a downgrade from the company that has offered a higher refresh rate following the current trend. The panel also boasts a touch response of 240 Hz.

Xperia 5 II sports a game enhancer mode that allows users to change the refresh rate, motion blur, and touch response rate manually. There is also a voice changer and recording feature integrated into the phone.

Other internal specification more or less resembles all quality flagship devices we have seen in 2020. The Snapdragon 865 chipset is paired with 8 GB RAM. The phone comes with an internal storage space of 256 GB. The storage is expandable up to 1 TB via a microSDXC card. The handset is backed up by a 4000 mAh battery with 18W USB PD charging support. It runs on Android 10 with Sony’s skin on top.

It features the Zeiss branded triple camera array on the rear that supports 16 mm, 24 mm, and 70 mm focal lengths. There is a 12 MP primary sensor with OIS, a 12 MP ultra-wide sensor with Dual Pixel autofocus, and a 12 MP telephoto lens with 3x optical zoom and OIS support. It must be noted that this is exactly the same camera setup that Xperia 1 II has; the only difference is that the ToF sensor is missing here. All the three cameras boast ZEISS lenses with T* anti-reflective coating.

The company has claimed that Xperia 5 II is going to be the first smartphone to support 4K HDR video recording @ 120 FPS. The cameras in Xperia 5 II support real-time Eye AF which allows the device to lock onto a human or cat’s eye with ease.
