Signal incorporates consumer focused features to attract more users

According to the latest news, the latest version of Signal for both iOS and Android brings a number of new features like chat wallpapers, animated stickers, and an “About” section. Apart from this, with this update, the iOS app will now handle data more efficiently. In recent weeks, due to the WhatsApp policy chaos, messaging apps like Signal and Telegram have seen a surge in growth.

Signal was recommended by Tesla CEO Elon Musk. Not that the new features were announced on 11th January. Last week, Android Police reported that Signal is going to roll out a beta version of Signal for Android very soon.

With chat wallpapers, you will be able to pick from a number of presets or select a photo of your own. The feature also allows you to set a wallpaper for a specific conversation or for all of them. According to Android Police, the beta version had 24 animated stickers. On contrary, the iOS app is also made more data-efficient. iPhone users will see a new setting to lower data usage during calls. Other features include an option to automatically pause attachment downloads during calls, and improved image compression among other enhancements.

It should be noted that Signal has long been a popular messaging option for those who gave security of their communications the highest priority. Back in February 2020, the European Commission told its staff to switch to Signal Back. Even now, Signal is focused on releasing new security-focused features like encrypted group video calls.

Consumer-focused features such as wallpapers and stickers could make Signal feel more approachable for the new user base. For this, it has to introduce consumer-focused features like this from time to time.
