According to the latest news, Samsung has announced its Neo QLED, micro-LED, and lifestyle TV display panels at the virtual Consumer Electronics Show (CES) 2021 event. The company mentioned that it has specially designed Neo QLED for upcoming 8K and 4K TVs from the brand. On the other hand, the 88 inches, 99 inches, and 110 inches MicroLED panels are designed consumer TVs.
The company revealed that the Neo QLED panel is based on mini LED backlighting technology that features smaller LEDs. These small LEDs can focus light on a smaller area. The LED panel is equipped with LEDs that are up to 40 times smaller than conventional LEDs with full-array backlighting. The company said the display panel offers precise backlighting control, improved HDR, higher contrast, and better brightness. This is made possible by adding more LEDs in a smaller area.
Samsung mentioned that the Neo QLED panels are powered by Neo Quantum Processor for AI upscaling. Neo Quantum Processor is an image processor. There are as many as 16 neural networks that upscale image quality to the native resolution of the panel.
The Neo QLED panel is specially designed for Samsung’s QN900A 8K and QN90A 4K models. The company noted that the upcoming TVs that will feature these Neo QLED panels will offer features like super-slim bezels, 21:9 to 32:9 aspect ratio, a new audio system with object tracking and spatial optimization, and much more.
On the other hand, TVs with MicroLED panels are solely targeted at business. The MicroLED panels will have self-emitting LEDs for each pixel and there will be no requirement for backlights. The company claims these MiucroLED panels will be better than OLED panels. The newly designed MicroLED panels will offer accurate black levels and high brightness. With the Multi View feature, users will be able to view content from four different sources at the same time.
