Evebot, a printing startup, has launched a Kickstarter campaign for its upcoming printer. Evebot specializes in 3D printing technology. The upcoming printing gadget by the company is named as PrintPods. This portable device can print on literally any material and surface. PrintPods is capable of printing on stones, glass, mugs, wood, metal, plastic, leather, and even food.
It comes with a single cartridge system with three different ink options. The inks can be quickly switched from one to another. The three ink options are skin-friendly ink (navy/red/blue/black), non-removable ink (black), and invisible ink.
The invisible ink can only be seen under UV light. The skin-friendly ink is 100% safe, non-corrosive, water-soluble, and non-irritating. Similarly, low-cost custom logos can be printed on any object with the non-removable ink.
This tiny printing machine is compatible with both Android and iOS. Apart from this, users can also connect it to Wi-Fi to print out a design. The cheapest model comes with a price tag of $99.
The operating system can be used to upload an image, and it can be printed by sampling pressing the “print” option. PrintPods comes preloaded with hundreds of different in-app patterns. One full cartridge has the potential to print as much as 3500 times.
The best part of the PrintPods is that it takes only 1 second to get connected and as soon as it gets connected, it can start printing. The power system of the printer is backed by a 500 mAh battery. It must be noted that one full charge can print 1000 continuous prints. Overall, one single print will cost something around the US $0.01.
PrintPods is a handheld printer and it is equipped with an advanced pulley sensor that is capable of detecting and responding to movements, which in turn allows faster prints. The device has a two times wider printing width, which can double the output.
