Gamers are eagerly waiting for the launch of the upcoming PlayStation console, PlayStation 5. Users can use the PlayStation 5 console as an entertainment hub for streaming services.
According to the latest news, today, Sony has announced that at launch, almost every major streaming platform will have its app available on the PlayStation 5.
This was first announced by none other than Phil Rosenberg who is currently Sony’s Head of Global Partner Development and Relations. Phil Rosenberg posted about it in a blog.
It seems that this time, with PlayStation 5, Sony is clearly focusing on entertainment. The company announced a dedicated media remote for the console. Just to let you know, the new PlayStation 5 UI will have a dedicated media section for all your streaming and media apps.
Not only this, the remote will have dedicated buttons for the most popular services such as Disney+, Spotify, Netflix, and YouTube. Sadly, there will be no special button for Amazon Prime Video but however, you will be able to access it from the media screen.
Just like any other remote, it comes with other features buttons such as fast forward, reverse, play, and pause. You will also be able to control power and volume through the remote. Interestingly, Sony is coming up with “PlayStation 5 ready Televisions”.
According to the blog post, the apps that will be available in PlayStation 5 at launch are:
- Apple TV
- Amazon Prime Video
Note that all these apps will be available at launch on the PlayStation 5 console.
