We are almost ready for the next generation of the OnePlus flagship, i.e., the OnePlus 9 series. This year too OnePlus is going to release two models at the first announcement, the OnePlus 9 and 9 Pro, and then later the T models, maybe the OnePlus 9T and 9T Pro. We already have a ton of leaks and rumors of the smartphones already.
Now, we are getting one more from none other than the Chinese microblogging site, Weibo. The reputed leakster, Digital Chat Station earlier today posted the key specs of the OnePlus 9 and 9 Pro like size and refresh rate of the display, and also the selfie camera housing.
Now, coming to the specifications, according to the post on Weibo, the OnePlus 9 is going to feature a 6.55-inch F-HD+ with a refresh rate of 120 Hz. The screen will be flexible yet flat, which may be better but in my personal opinion, I always liked the curved screen. Now, regarding the OnePlus 9 Pro, it is going to feature a bit larger display than the normal 9, it will feature a 6.78-inch Quad-HD+ display with a refresh rate of 120 Hz, which is less than the previously rumored 144Hz refresh rate. Other than that the display in the 9 Pro will be curved.
Moreover, Digital Chat Station added to the statement that both the devices are going to feature the similar selfie camera housing, i.e., a single punch-hole setup with a diameter of ±3.5 millimeter, which is way more precise and smaller than some of the other flagships in the market. The camera sensor of the front camera is yet not revealed but we can expect a good one with at least a good viewing angle.
In a statement by OnePlus CEO a couple of weeks ago said that OnePlus’s R&D team is explicitly working on the OnePlus 9’s camera and efforts will go mainly towards improving the camera quality. In the earlier leaks, it was rumored that the OnePlus 9 series will have a similar camera setup, so we can expect the main lens pairing with a wide-angle shooter and a telephoto lens, 50-megapixel, 20-megapixel, and 12-megapixel respectively.
Under the hood, it will be powered by the latest Qualcomm Snapdragon 888 SoC. It is an octa-core SoC (1×2.9 GHz Cortex-X1 & 3×2.80 GHz Cortex-A78 & 4×2.2 GHz Cortex-A55) paired with Adreno 660 GPU. The post also says that it will a 4500 mAh battery which will be charged using the 65-watt fast charger.
Although, all these are rumors and leaks, so we will have to wait for the official announcement to verify. The launch of the OnePlus 9 series is scheduled for Q1 2021.
