OnePlus has started teasing its next flagship smartphone, OnePlus 8T with a television advertisement starring ‘Iron Man’ Robert Downey Jr. during IPL break time. Now, the Chinese tech giant has finally revealed the launch date of the handset without being able to control its excitement. From its official Twitter handle in India, the company revealed that OnePlus 8T will be unveiled on 14th October 2020 at 7:30 PM IST (3:00 PM BST or 10:00 AM EDT). It seems that the rumors about the OnePlus 8T launch were correct this time as well.
For OnePlus 8T, OnePlus is using the hashtag ‘#UltraStopsAtNothing’. The company posted “This time round, #UltraStopsAtNothing. Are you ready for the #OnePlus8T?” from its official handle, OnePlus @oneplus.
Note that in its teaser, the company is only referring to OnePlus 8T without mentioning anything about the series. In the tech circle, a lot has been heard about OnePlus 8T Pro already, but it seems that the device might not finally see the light of day.
The Chinese tech giant has also set up a dedicated microsite for the 8T but the link often gets broken. As of now, no specification is declared officially. But we have a good number of rumors that convey to us its expected specifications.
OnePlus 8T is expected to feature a flat display as opposed to the curved display we find in its predecessor. It seems that OnePlus is following Samsung’s footsteps with this approach. The display is rumored to be a 6.55 inches Full HD + AMOLED one with a refresh rate of 120 Hz. As far as refresh rate os concerned, it is a bump worth 30 HZ than its predecessors. Its predecessors came with a refresh rate of 90 Hz only. There will be a single punch hole cut out, rumored to house a 32 MP selfie sensor at the top left.
Reputable tipster @OnLeaks revealed that the rear panel of the OnePlus 8T will resemble recent Oppo and Vivo devices. This means, OnePlus 8T will pack a rectangular camera array on the top left. The L shaped sensor arrangement will feature a 48 MP primary camera developed by Sony, a 16 MP ultra-wide lens, a 5 MP macro camera, and a 2 MP depth sensor.
There is a bit of contradiction about on the processor. One report suggests that OnePlus 8T will be powered by a Snapdragon 865 chipset like its predecessor while another report conveys that the chipset will be Snapdragon 865+. The second report also mentions 12 GB RAM and 256 GB internal storage.
OnePlus 8T will be the first ever device to run on Android 11 based OxygenOS and the device will be backed up by a 4500 mAh battery that supports 65W fast charging. Note that if this comes out to be true then it is a 35W improvement because its predecessor supported up to 30W fast charge technology only.
