LG Wing, scheduled to launch on 14th September with two displays

Earlier last week, on Tuesday, LG showed a teaser video, and then finally, on Saturday, the company confirmed about its upcoming smartphone. It is going to come with a swiveling second screen dubbed as LG Wing.

Tuesday’s video conveyed that the device has some kind of sliding mechanism, with the help of which, it can rotate one of its two screens such that it forms a T shape. It must be noted that this LG Wing will be the company’s first device launched under its Explorer Project banner.

Earlier the company claimed that under this project, a series of “devices that deliver distinctive and yet unexplored usability experiences and uncharted territory in the industry”. So far, this line up was under the wrap due to some unknown reason.

In its press release, officially given on Saturday, the company said “LG’s boldest, newest smartphone will deliver a new and different form factor and mobile experience that would be impossible to create with conventional smartphones.”

Last month, Android Authority shared a few exclusive first looks showing off how the LG Wing’s two screens work together. They made as many as two distinct videos on it. The first video demonstrates how one can use a full-screen navigation app and control their music or field inbound calls simultaneously while driving while the other showed how the LG Wing’s distinct shape can create offer a unique experience.

As far as the specification list is concerned, nothing is confirmed yet, but it is being rumored that LG Wing will support 5G. The device will be powered by a Snapdragon 765 or 765g processor. It will come with triple rear camera setup and have two displays of 6.8 inches and 4 inches.

Last month, XDA Developers reported that LG Wing will come with a price tag of US $1,000 however, an earlier leak pegged its price at the US $1,600. LG Wing will be launched at the company’s Explorer Project event on 14th September 2020 at 10 A.M.
