Reliance Jio, a few years ago, disrupted the telecom industry of India. There was a time when the Indian customers used to pay close to Rs. 250 for just 1GB of internet and that too, for an entire month. Now, the tables have turned ever since Reliance Jio started operations with its 4G only service. Jio has started to offer 1GB of internet per day for 28 days which means 28GB 4G data per month for less than Rs. 200. Since then, all the major telecom providers have had to lower their prices as well to sustain with Jio.
There are people who are complaining about Jio’s data being slowest. However, we must say that Jio coming to Indian markets has been a major win for Indian customers. Now, it looks like the same will be done by Jio GigaFiber which is Reliance Jio’s broadband service. Jio has already started work on the GigaFiber service and the services have started to roll out in various cities around India. However, it is on a free-to-use basis with a deposit amount to pay up front.
Jio GigaFiber will use fiber optic cables in order to have faster as well as stable internet speeds across the board. It is being reported now that the prices of Jio GigaFiber have leaked. Reports suggest that the base plan of Jio GigaFiber will have a 50Mbps connection. However, it will start for as low as Rs. 600 per month which is the cheapest that India has ever seen.
Jio GigaFiber will also offer a 100Mbps plan which will cost Rs. 1000 per month. Also, a Triple Play Plan has also been leaked which will offer 100GB of data per month for just Rs. 600/month at 100Mbps speed. Jio might also offer free access to Jio’s Home TV service and a landline connection for the early adopters.
