Huami Technology is a company headquartered in Hefei, China that specializes in smart wearable technology. The company also makes its own AI powered wearable chips. Today, according to the latest news, the company’s founder has announced that the third generation wearable chip which might be dubbed Huangshan 3 is coming soon.
Huami has been a pioneer in the Smartwatches, fitness trackers segment and it also makes products for Xiaomi. Back in Oct. 2020, the partnership between Huami and Xioami got extended for at least another three years.
Back in 2018, Huami stepped into the world of self-developed wearable chips by announcing the world’s first AI-powered Huangshan No.1 chipset. Almost two years later, the company brought back the momentum with the Huangshan 2 chipset in June 2020.
Huangshan 2 is used by Huami in many of its smart products, especially in devices that have architecture based on the RISC-V instruction set. It came with a C2 co-processor ad an independent NPU(Neural Processing Unit).
Artificial Intelligence deep learning largely depends on the NPU that enables it to make predictions from the available dataset so we can expect the company to upgrade the NPU and the instruction set to get a leap in performance on the third generation chipset.
Huami Founder & CEO, Huang Wang reportedly revealed this at the Innovation Conference 2021 today. He revealed that Huami’s third generation self developed wearable chip will be launched soon. In the event, he said that he feels that with the technology on chips advancing, the capital investment is also jumping up.
According to him, even though, it is a pain, it succeeds in enthralling the end consumer and reducing the overall cost of producing a commercial wearable product. Wang has not yet confirmed a name for the chip. Experts believe, it can simply be Huangshan No. 3.
