Google has just launched a new search experience in India. This is the all-new Google Shopping search experience. Also, this is specifically for Indian users. Now, the Google Shopping search results are not a standalone portal by Google. Rather, it is just a curation of products from different shopping portals in India.

For example, we search for a particular product on Google such as iPhone. With Google Shopping, you will get the price, reviews and ratings from different websites in India such as Amazon, Flipkart and the likes.

You will see products from different categories, top deals, and more on Google Shopping which includes phones, clothing, books, watches etc. Now, there is no dedicated app or website for this Google Shopping feature. You just get a new tab inside the Google search results when you search for any product.

Therefore, you need to go to the Shopping tab found next to News, Maps, Images, Videos, and Books etc. Also, the Google Search will allow users to post queries in English and in Indian native language, Hindi.

Google announced the launch of Google Shopping in a blog post. Surojit Chatterjee, VP-Product Management at Google said,

At Google, our mission is to organize the world’s information and make it universally accessible and useful to everyone. That’s why today we are bringing a new and exciting shopping search experience to India.

This is a personalised and immersive experience that will help you easily filter through offers, review prices from multiple retailers and find that right product.

Now, the reason behind launching Google Shopping according to Google is very simple yet complicated. There are currently 400 million internet users in India but only 1/3rd of them have done online shopping. Google says they want to change this and make the products accessible to each and every user.

Also, the shopping experience needs to be made simpler and easier for general non-tech savvy users. For this reason, Google Shopping has been launched and we hope that its purpose is served.
