Just a day after Google Maps expanded its list of features with the rollout of a new ‘Community Feed’, as per the latest news, it is now set to get a new direct messaging feature that enables verified businesses to communicate with customers directly within the app.
The ‘Community Feed’ feature aggregates all the latest reviews, photos, and posts submitted to the app by local experts. ‘Community Feed’ shows the latest information about local eateries and watering holes, personalized for each user’s selected interests.
Google said that from now on, business owners will be able to update their Business Profile directly from Maps or Search to better engage with their customers. The company said, “Once you turn messaging on from your Business Profile, you can start replying to customers on Google Maps from the business messages section in the ‘Updates’ tab”.
This means, very soon, businesses will be able to see their messages right from the Google Search via the ‘Customers’ menu on their Business Profile and message customers directly from their account. It seems that Google is making it easier for customers to get information about the business.
From now on, users will be able to start a conversation from any post created by a business in addition to initiating a direct chat with a company. To start a direct chat all that users have to do is click or tap on the ‘Message’ button on their business profile. As part of the plan, Google will prompt to send a message if they try to call a business but don’t get any response.
As part of the company’s plans to make the service more feature rich for both customers and business owners, direct messaging is going to be the latest addition that will be added to the Google Map application.
