Google launches new Chromecast with Google TV

According to the latest news, tech giant Google has finally unveiled its next-generation streaming device, Google Chromecast with Google TV at the company’s annual hardware event titled Launch Night In. The gadget is codenamed as Sabrina.

At the event, Google has also unveiled a bunch of other hardware including Pixel 4a 5G, Pixel 5, and new Nest Speakers. It should be noted that Google had already launched the Pixel 4a last month, as the replacement for the company’s one and only budget smartphone, Pixel 3a.

Google Chromecast with Google TV is one of the few gadgets whose full specification list was leaked before the official launch. The latest news suggests that the new Chromecast devices reportedly went on sale at some Walmart and Home Depot stores which means as of now, some users already grabbed the opportunity to purchase Chromecast devices. It was first discovered in a Reddit post with full specifications.

Chromecast provides an experience closer to what currently Amazon Fire TV and other streaming devices offer. However, as a drawback, the new device comes with a complex user interface. In simple words, Google took away the simplicity that previous Chromecast devices have always offered. You must know that Google TV existed in the past but later on it was replaced by Android TV. Android TV was powered by Android OS that was specially designed to run on media devices. It seems Google is turning to history again and has renamed Android TV with its maiden name, Google TV.

The new Chromecast supports titles at 4K 60fps. Almost all modern video formats are supported by this gadget such as Dolby Vision, HDR10, HDR10+, and Dolby Atmos. The streaming device comes with dual-band WiFi AC support, Bluetooth support, and USB Type C ports. This Chromecast connects to the TV directly using the HDMI interface. The company has also integrated a remote control in the new iteration of Chromecast that uses 2 AAA batteries to power itself. The remote also comes with Google Assistant integration and has dedicated buttons for Netflix and YouTube. It is available in three color options, including Snow, Sky, and Sunrise. Apart from this, the new Chromecast also comes with Bluetooth support and an IR sensor.

Google has tagged its next-generation Chromecast device with a price tag of US $ 49.99 in the US. The company will launch it’s globally at the end of this year.
