“Descript” software can edit videos by using text documents present in the video

Almost every one of us has at least tried once to edit a video. It can be for a work presentation or for some other purposes. If you have a YouTube channel, you possibly know the hassle of editing a video. You have to cut, trim, and add transitions in order to make your video attractive. According to the latest news, “Descript” software can make your video editing as smooth and easy as editing a text.

Descript has been specially designed as a powerful tool for video editing. It comes with all the major features of professional video editing tools like Adobe Premiere Pro and Final Cut Pro X. Descript’s can transcribe your video into a full fledged text document using your dialogues in the video. This feature makes it different than existing video editing applications.

Here, initially, you have to add your video to the software. As soon as you do this, it automatically transcribes it to get the text document and once that is done, it opens up an array of unusual editing methods from which the user can choose depending upon his or her requirement.

Users will be able to delete a part of your video by simply deleting the text of your dialogues. All you have to do is just select the part of the text you want to delete and press “Backspace” on your keyboard and it will delete the text on the text document as well as the part of the video where they exist. This feature is going to be a very interesting one. Almost all of us use unnecessary words like “um”, “like”, “kind of”, “err”, hmm“ when we speak. With Descript’s “Remove filler words” option, users will be able to delete all these unnecessary words with t a click of a button.

Descript software allows users to replace any misspoken words or phrases in the audio with the correct one. Suppose you have said something wrong in your video which you intend to put on your YouTube channel. Instead of correctly recording that part again and adding it to the video, now, you can just erase the wrong phrase or word through the text document and replace it with the correct one. Note that this will replace the wrong audio with the correct one too. This feature is dubbed as “Overdub”.

According to the makers of Descript, the software has such potentials due to its built-in AI. Apart from these awesome features, Descript software also features a native screen recorder to record your screen. Another feature worth mention is it allows multiple users to work on a single project by sharing relevant links.

Andrew Mason, the CEO of Descript said that the company’s primary goal has always been helping users to edit videos and audios in an easier way. It seems, with these unorthodox methods of video editing, the company wants to introduce many new kinds of media creation tools for creators in the future.

Andrew Mason wrote “Today’s creators have a healthy disregard for the traditional boundaries of content mediums — YouTubers make podcasts, podcasters are distributing on YouTube — and they need a tool that’s equally capable in audio and video. “Breakthroughs in AI enable the creation of this new class of narrative media creation tools — one doesn’t force a trade-off between power and ease of use. We’ve been building this foundation for over five years, and it’s finally here.”

You can download Descript right away from its official website. Currently, the software is available for limited period versions if you are not a subscriber. If you want to be a subscriber, you can choose from plans starting at the rate of US $ 12 per month (which is around INR 883 per month) else you can try out the limited period version.
