With the launch of the iPhone 12, Apple introduced a new “ecosystem of accessories” with its MagSafe magnetic back. It has offered accessories like MagSafe Charger and snap-on leather wallet so far.
According to the latest news, currently, Apple is also working on a MagSafe battery pack. Previously, Apple has sold battery pack accessories for iPhones in the form of a Smart Battery Case but MagSafe offers an opportunity to ditch the case and sell a snap-on battery.
Bloomberg reported that Apple has been working on the battery accessory for at least a year but there were several problems such as overheating or battery support problems. If Apple can’t find a solution to solve this overheating problem then it will likely have to scrap the idea
If this Magsafe battery pack becomes live, you will be able to just throw a spare full battery charge in a bag and then snap-on to your iPhone when needed. Some experts believe that if this becomes live, it has the potential to be a very profitable accessory for Apple. On contrary, the bad PR over a MagSafe battery overheating and damaging an iPhone must be avoided. Apple should take more time developing the product so that it has no negative reviews.
The iPhone 11 Smart Battery Case comes with a price tag of $129 so if a MagSafe battery pack does eventually get released, most probably, Apple will tag it within the same price range. It might also price it below around the $99 price tag considering it doesn’t double as a protective case.
