Tipster Jon Prosser is known in the tech industry for his revelation of accurate details of the iPhone SE2, Apple’s mini smartphone that launched last year. According to the latest news, the tipster now has come out with a juicy detail of Apple AirTags. According to Jon Prosser, Apple AirTags will be released in March 2021.

It is worth mention that in the month of August last year, Apple AirTags was first leaked online via a patent filing. The leak detailed the basic functionality of the device. Apple AirTags is a location tracking device and is expected to pair seamlessly with a host smartphone or tablet. In the patent, Apple had placed an emphasis on the functional ability of multi-interface transponder (MIT) device.

In the patent, the multi-interface transponder device is described as a portable and compact gadget with a simple processor, light and motion sensors, radio stack, and power core. It can be attached to various objects such as wallets, keys, and IDs. In simple words, it is basically a small location tracking device that can track down your important belongings.

The functionality of the device includes connectivity and communication with nearby electronics and power affordances. The patent has also outlined a special power management feature that enables “intelligently boosting beacon transmission depending on determined location and proximity to nearby devices.”

Notably, recently, Samsung announced the SmartTag and SmartTag+, a tile-like Bluetooth-LE tracker. This tracker comes with a similar fictional ability as the Apple AirTags. It helps you find your lost objects. The Samsung model comes with a starting price tag of $29. As far as the Apple patent is concerned, it far eclipse the features of the Smart Tag especially in terms of transmission.

Yesterday, Jon Prosser (@jon_prosser) posted “ AirTags are still on for March. Haven’t heard of any further delays this time.”
