Apple, in its Apple Flies event, alongside the Apple Watch Series 6, and Apple One bundles, has announced the new 8th generation iPad. Interestingly, this iPad comes with more or less a similar design as the previous generation. The core improvements are CPU, GPU, and other performance oriented.
The new iPad will be powered by an A12 Bionic chipset. This is the same chipset that runs the iPhone XS series, and the iPhone XR. A12 Bionic chipset comes with a 6 core CPU and a 4 core GPU. With these improvements, the company claims that the new iPad will be able to deliver a 40 % faster CPU performance than last year’s iPad. Apart from this, the 8th generation iPad also offers a 2 times faster GPU performance as compared to its predecessor.
Just like the 7th generation iPad, this 8th generation iPad also comes with Apple Pencil support. It must be noted, that the device is still the first-generation Apple Pencil which means, the company has not come out with any improvements over the Apple Pencil this time. The same goes for keyboard support. Even though users will get Apple Keyboard support, there is no support for the new Magic Keyboard which was announced with the new iPad Pro.
The good thing about this iPad is that the company has kept the price the same as last year, though the model is an improved iteration of it. Just like last year’s iPad, this new 8th generation iPad comes with a price tag of US $ 329.
This time, Apple has also come up with an offer for education customers. For them, the new iPad comes with a special discounted price tag of US $ 299. The pre-order of this 8th generation iPad starts from today itself and it will go for sale from Friday.
